"Cranes Call" Read the short story by Helen May.
Helen May .....writer and storyteller, was born and educated in South Africa and then fled the politics of
apartheid to live in Brazil before moving to Vancouver. Helen has told and
listened to stories in southern Africa, Brazil and Western Canada; in various
languages with children, adults and elders of communities on these continents;
in halls, under trees, in kitchens, in schools, community centers,
libraries. Her stories for adult listeners illustrate how human endeavor and triumph,
when shared, can create a bridge of understanding through narrative.
